Me and a friend took our daughters to see Monsters vs. Aliens yesterday. The movie wasn't great - not a patch on Monsters, Inc., which it actually has nothing to do with - but it had its moments.
Stephen Colbert plays the American president, predictably pompous, and when aliens are threatening to take over the world, he assembles his cabinet and military honchos in a secret bunker.
When it's clear just how bad the situation is, he shouts at an underling: “We need our top scientific minds on this. Get me India on the phone!”
I wonder if nativists were as offended as we were amused.
That's pretty much it. Oh, and also, the Effects Supervisor on the movie was Mahesh Ramasubramaniam. I found an interview with him and other technical talent from the movie here, where he talks in front of a huge model of the Golden Gate bridge. It's worth checking out - can't tell if he's based in California or in an animiation studio in India, but you can see a little Indian flag sticking out from above his computer monitor.
