Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009: Live-blogging the Super Bowl on this post - starting 6 pm EST. See the 2008 Super Bowl live blog here.
2:30 pm: MEET A SOUTH ASIAN IN THE NFL: Listen to the SAJA webcast from earlier today with Brandon Chillar of the Green Bay Packers, the only South Asian to play in the NFL; his agent, Jim Ivler, his agent; and Kevin Negandhi, ESPN anchor
6:15 pm: AN UNUSUAL SUPERBOWL PARTY: See the e-mail that landed in my inbox from, of all places, Diya Fusion Indian Lounge, with the subject line: "Super Bowl XLIII is here at last":
Super Bowl XLIII is here at last, and our bar is excited to welcome you!

DIYA FUSION INDIAN CUISINE

6:55 pm: OZ SPOTTING: Just saw a line on the TV about Arizona punter, Ben Graham, being the first Australian-born player to play in the Super Bowl. I wonder if there's an Australian American Journalists Association and someone there is excited about this development.
7:10 pm: DESI SPOTTING: See the gent next to the clown at the end of this ad:
7:22 pm: HERO SPOTTING: An ad for NBC's "Heroes" shows a glimpse of actor Sendhil Ramamurthy, who plays Mohinder Suresh, PhD. Many of you will recall that he was one of the featured speakers at the 2007 SAJA gala dinner in NYC.
8:08 pm: HERO SPOTTING: Another ad for "Heroes" featuring a football commercial with legends John Elway, Warren Sapp and others, includes Ramamurthy again.
9:04 pm: HERO SPOTTING: Yet another "Heroes" ad with a Ramamurthy glimpse.
10:25 pm: DOC SPOTTING: An ad for the final season of NBC's "ER" features Parminder Nagra, who plays Dr. Neela Rasgotra (she's been on the show since 2003). Perhaps we can her Dr. Nagra anyway - she received an honorary doctorate from the University of Leicester in 2007 (who knew?!).
10:50 pm: OFFICE SPOTTING: The specially-selected show that runs after the Super Bowl gets endlessly promoted during the telecast. And that was the case this year, too. The hour-long episode of "The Office" that ran after the game featured regular cast member Mindy Kaling, who plays Kelly Kapoor. But, more importantly, Kaling was also executive producer of the episode. Here she is from an episode earlier this season on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno":
CHUCK SPOTTING: Forgot to note at least three NBC ads featured glimpses of actor Vik Sahay, who plays Lester Patel on "Chuck."
