Here's video of Fareed Zakaria's latest of many appearances on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" on Comedy Central on Monday, Jan. 14, 2008. Among the things they discussed during their six-minute interview: Zakaria's recent two-hour meeting in Pakistan with Gen. Musharraf; the assassination of Benazir Bhutto; President Bush's Israel trip and more. One of his points about U.S. foreign policy and its support of SOME dictators: "I am suggesting we like democracy in strategically irrelevant countries."
Zakaria, who is editor of Newsweek International, has a new weekly TV show coming to CNN and CNN International this spring (more when we know more). His old show on PBS, "Foreign Exchange with Fareed Zakaria" is now "Foreign Exchange with Daljit Dhaliwal."
FishbowlNY noted last year another appearance by Zakaria: "Jon Stewart leurves Fareed Zakaria." I remember hearing the Zakaria was one of the most frequent guests on Stewart's show (second, perhaps, only to Sen. John McCain. Can anyone confirm this?)
