BTW, Amit just won the Bastiat -- come celebrate on Friday!

KOTHARI:

you make bastiat sound like a mythical medieval beast. bestiary was the place where those mythical beasts were kept and fed in a timely manner. The problem was what to do with them, once corralled? They were too ugly to eat so none were killed. None of them would leave because the food was free. Why they were caught in the first place is a story for another time. As this metaphysical debate raged in that medieval kingdom, a salesman traipsed into town. lo and behold, the beast was sold, to freedom.

your sales pitch has to be more persuasive than bastiat award. try to inspire, persuade, interest and sell me the BASTIAT AWARD. i have no idea what bastiat award is. make it a soft sell. as you know walt whitman hated art. I hate town-criers and sandwich men.

yeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Man PJKS, your comments grow more esoteric by the day.

raghvan:

I have this sudden urge to read prem chand's godhan and gabhan. don't know how or where to find these. 19th century india, best reflected in his descriptions of society, is largely an invention of prem chand. he really lived. most people just exist. he is one of the few hindus i know of who lived a life of fatalism like it were the only way to live a life. He lived as if there were no death. now isn't that a good example of arrogance presented so unapologetically and humbly. It's such a regret that rushdie's presentation of india's regional literature never pondered the supremacy of prem chand as he fought the euro-centric literary brokers striving to compartmentalize literature between various commonwealth communities.

Moral: EQUAL POVERTY FOR ALL IS NOT A GOOD EXAMPLE OF CREATIVE DESTRUCTION AS RECOMMENDED BY JOHN MAYNARD KEYNES. YET DIG THE HOLES AND FILL THEM UP AS AN EXAMPLE OF SOCIAL CAPITAL IS ANTITHETICAL TO GOEORGE SOROS AND JOHN CORZINE. PLEASE COMMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF MODERNDAY RESILEINCE OF ECONOMIES GIVEN THE CRISIS IN 1929, 1987, 1998 AND THE CURRENT CRISIS OF SUBPRIME MELTDOWN. KEEP THE COMMENT TO ONE LINE HOWEVER LONG YOU WANT IT TO BE. NATHANIEL HAWTHORNE, THE FIRST AMERICAN TO WIN NOBEL FOR LITERATURE, WAS KNOWN AS THE ONE-LINE ESSAYIST.
