MOVES: Betty Wong to Become Global Head of Editorial Operations for Reuters

Wong Sources tell SAJAforum that Betty Wong, managing editor of Reuters America, has been appointed as the global head of editorial operations for Reuters (while retaining the ME of Reuters America title as well). She will remain at the NYC office and will not be moving to London. She assumes her new duties tomorrow, Friday, June 1, 2007.

Prior to this promotio, Wong was named, in 2006, one of the most influential women in American business journalism by "Newsroom Confidential."

In addition, she is one of a handful of Asians to have such a senior international media job.

Of course, this is happening against the backdrop of the big Thomson purchase of Reuters for $17.2 billion.

Wong was a headliner at the 2006 SAJA Convention & Job Fair (this year it's July 12-15 in NYC). The photos on the left and below are by Preston Merchant - merchant[at]speakeasy.net.
